A Letter to My Body

Dear body,
We’ve been through so much in the past 20 years and five months! From excessive sun bathing, freckles, my constantly fluctuating weight, one too many alcohol units, to bi-weekly manicures, and sleep filled days…
Despite the slightly smaller than average boobage which I am sometimes frustrated by, I think you are amazing and I am so lucky to have you. Not too tall, not too short, so I can wear any kind of shoes I so please (which makes me inmensely happy because I have a growing addiction to them.) Everything is nicely proportioned, and I honestly could not ask for anything more. Over the years I may have been a bit harsh on you because I didn’t see something that I wanted, or I didn’t like what I saw altogether. I have learned now that not only are you beautiful, but you are also strong and heal amazingly (sorry for those careless bumps into doors and falling down the stairs a couple of times!) One comment I always always receive has to do with the magic of your eyes, the same eyes I hated and wished were green in the past but am now in love with – a mysterious toasty brown that reaches out to all those whom I love and all those I have yet to meet.
I am sorry our curious mind has put you through some not-so-healthy choices, but am glad we’ve both gotten past that stage in one piece! After all we only have one of each other. Do not take my ‘I feel ugly’ days too seriously, I have plenty of ‘I’m actually so beautiful’ days as well! I am going to do what I can to keep you healthy, even if my motivation to exercise is a bit on the low side – I will compensate by eating right, getting plenty of rest, and dressing up to show you off! I need you until the very end, and so you are invaluable to me.
Love,
Me.

Lovely. So, so lovely.
It’s such a great initiative – I’d never actually taken the time to sit & consider my body like this. It’s good to give it a try!
Awww this is lovely, it’s fantastic you reached this point of view. Especially so early in life, it’s something i’d normally associate with the 50+s.
love this.
